Day 1; Settle

After about 3 hours driving from Sint Willebrord in Brabant, Rogelli's location, we arrived in Binsfeld, Luxembourg. Photographer Wouter is from Limburg and treated us on arrival to a delicious slice of Limburg vlaai (flan). Although the Limburgse vlaai reminded us of our Dutch homeland, Luxemburg immediately felt like 'abroad' upon arrival.

The picturesque coloured houses, the surprisingly beautiful nature and the hilly landscapes with challenging height differences. Everyone was positively surprised. After unpacking all the gear and setting up the place to sleep, we split the group in two. One half went out to shoot the first images of the shoot during sunset. The other half went shopping for dinner and for the next day. Once back at the accommodation, we ate a delicious pasta bolognese. This first evening we went to bed early, because the next morning there was a long shoot day ahead of us.

Day 2; Vianden

On the second day, the day started early. We left at 6 a.m. for the Upper Sûre Lake. A reservoir in the north-west of Luxembourg where we experienced a fairytale sunrise. The lake has a surface of 380 hectares and is crossed by several bridges to which we drove by bus hired in the Netherlands. On location, we got the bikes out of the bus and the models dressed up. It was very quiet and peaceful, there were almost no people on the road. This gave us all the space and time we needed to make beautiful images. The morning mist still hung over the lake and the sun came slowly out from behind the hills. The soft light gave a nice image for the photos and videos and despite the cold, everyone was impressed by the beautiful view.

From Upper Sûre Lake we drove on to Vianden, a small town near the German border. In advance we make a global schedule with beautiful shoot locations. However, there is always room for spontaneous interpretation of the programme and today we stopped along the way at beautiful forest paths where the light was beautiful at the time. We noticed that it was very quiet on the road today. In combination with the well maintained road surface, the roads in Luxembourg are a dream for every cyclist. The roads go through a rolling landscape of hills and the many height differences ensure that there are almost no flat roads. Arriving at Vianden, the models changed back in the bus for the next set of clothes. Vianden is known for its impressive castle at the top of the town. Videographer Thom shot drone images of the castle and during golden hour the photographer was able to take some unique photos. The sun fell perfectly on the road towards Vianden, which enabled Wouter to make beautiful silhouette photos. During a shoot you are always dependent on the weather and this was a moment where location, time and weather conditions came together perfectly from a photographic point of view.

Day 3; Clervaux

After yesterday's long day, there was time to sleep in this morning, to get up and do your own thing. The models had time to train or explore the area on their bikes, or just relax in and around the accommodation. The photographer and videographer made a back-up of the images and the rest of the team was busy with the preparations for the coming days.

After lunch, we headed for the Bat Tunnel, an old railway line that runs through a tunnel full of bats. The tunnel itself was closed, but the part before the tunnel was also very beautiful to photograph and film. Then we drove on to Clervaux, a nice little town with a beautiful abbey. After the models had changed into their new clothes, we filmed a coffee scene in Clervaux and took photos in the village. When it was time to eat we drove back to the accommodation and in the evening in the dark we made video footage and pictures of the High Vis line. Snow had been forecast for this week and the first snowflakes began to fall this evening. Although the cold was a bit of a challenge for the models, they were also impressed with the result! Despite the snow, the reflective parts on the clothing were clearly visible on the images.

Day 4; Müllertal

Today, we woke up in a white snowy landscape. It had been snowing all night and it was still snowing in the morning. Perfect weather for shooting the Rogelli winter collection! Who would have thought that in mid-April. The saying 'April does what it wants' was confirmed once again. Today the Müllerthal was on the program, also called the Little Switzerland of Luxembourg. The unique composition of high rock formations provided impressive images. We stopped at two low-hanging rock formations, under which the models could cycle. The photographer stood on top of a rock so that he could take beautiful photos from afar. The snow added a winter touch. As the day progressed, the weather cleared up and the snow stopped. Clouds and sun alternated. After lunch at a picnic site, we drove on to Beaufort Castle. Here, videographer Thom made beautiful driving shots from the bus with the castle in the background. When we drove back north at the end of the day, we entered a snowy landscape again.

Day 5; Snow!

Today we also woke up in a white world. For today we had to film and photograph the Rogelli running collection. Yesterday we were so impressed by the beautiful Müllerthal, that we decided to go there again today. Once we arrived there, it was so windy and snowy that we had to wait in the bus and cars for a while. Too much snow is not good on film and of course it is not good for the equipment of the videographer and photographer. When the wind died down, we took some fairytale-like photos and videos at the famous Schiessentümpel waterfall. The light snowfall in combination with the beautiful nature made us feel like we were in the fairytale forest of the Efteling. An idyllic picture with a magical touch. After a great shoot in the snow, we drove to a coffee shop for a drink and some goodies. We deserved that! By now, it had stopped snowing and we took a break in the sun. Then we drove on to another part of the Müllerthal. A wooded area with lots of moss. On a very nice footpath we filmed and photographed the rest of our running collection.

Day 6; Coffee

Today it had stopped snowing. The combination of a lovely sunshine and snow made for a beautiful picture in the curves of the sloping Luxembourgish landscape. In the afternoon we went to Vianden, where we had been before on the second day during golden hour. Vianden is a cute little village with Chateu de Vianden as eye-catcher. A river runs through the village along the typical coloured Luxembourgish houses. In combination with the colours of the cycling clothes of the winter collection, this created beautiful images.

Today, the terraces in Luxembourg opened up again and we enjoyed a cup of coffee in the sunshine. In the centre of Vianden, we had lunch at a nice little restaurant. With a well-filled stomach, we drove on to a water area with a footbridge. It reminded us of a kind of Norwegian mini fjords, very beautiful. On the way, at sunset, we stopped at a road with beautiful curves through the typical hilly Luxembourg landscape.

Day 7; It's a wrap

On the last day of the shoot, we visited the town of essch sure sur. A Luxembourg village without a castle is not very common, so of course this town too had a beautiful castle overlooking the houses. After a little trivia quiz by the photographer, we knew that the castle ruins were built in the 10th century. A lovely little river, the Sûre, runs through the picturesque village. An idyllic setting and one of our favourite villages. Today, too, we had lunch on a terrace in the sunshine. Afterwards, we photographed and filmed the last accessories. In the evening, around the campfire with a drink, the week was concluded and the last video footage was made. It's a wrap!
