6 tips for washing cycling clothing
Of course it cannot be prevented that your cycling clothing gets dirty. If it is not due to a ride through the rain in the muddy forests, it will be due to sweating during a nice ride in the sun. Fortunately, cycling clothing is easy to wash out, so you can go on the road fresh and fruity with your washed clothes. It is important to wash the cycling clothing with the greatest care because of the special fabrics that are made of cycling clothing. Below some tips for washing cycling clothing in the right way, so that you can enjoy your new clothing for the longest time.

1. Was new cycling clothing once by hand
Just bought a new cycling shirt? Understandable that you want to make the flash in this as quickly as possible during one of your bike rides. Yet it is wise to wash the new shirt once by hand in cold water for the first trip. Do not use liquid detergent for this, but preferably washing powder. Washing powder ensures that protective layers stay intact for longer in the cycling clothing. This also applies to all washes with cycling clothing. Before washing your cycling clothing by hand with the washing powder, you can wash the cycling clothing with vinegar in advance, so that the worst dirt is already pulled out. You don't have to do much yourself, let it soak fifteen minutes is enough.

2. Wash the clothes right after a round of cycling
If you come home completely exhausted from a round of cycling, of course you don't feel like doing the laundry right away. It is best for your cycling clothing to be washed directly. By leaving dirty cycling clothing you let bacteria go their own way and they settle down in your beautiful pakkie. You don't want that! In order not to damage your cycling clothing in quality and in looks, it is therefore advisable to wash the clothes immediately. Then you can also handle the clothes again as quickly as possible!

3. Wash the clothing right after a round of cycling
You might still be able to put yourself over that first hand wash, but to have to do this every time ... We can imagine that that may have been asked too much. You can wash your cycling clothing in the washing machine, as long as you follow the washing instructions. You can use the hand wash program on the washing machine for that. Please note that you do not set the temperature higher than 30 degrees. Furthermore, it is an absoluteno-goTo use fabric softener and you should certainly not use too much detergent. Rather too little than too much. If there are still residues in detergent in your clothing, it can be terribly itching or irritating.

4. In the washing machine is allowed, but not too hot!
To prevent damage to your cycling clothing, it is important that all zippers and Velcro closures are closed if you wash the cycling clothing. Is this not possible or are you afraid that things will go wrong? Then we recommend using a laundry bag. To be sure that your cycling clothing stays as beautiful as possible, you could consider putting all the items of clothing in a separate laundry bag. By putting your cycling shorts, bicycle shirt and bicycle gloves all in a separate bag, you are well on your way of getting the most out of your cycling clothing.

5. Make sure that all zippers and Velcro closures are closed
After washing, try to dry your cycling clothing in the air. Take a pendant for your cycling shirt and hang it on the clothesline. The same applies to Baselayers. It is best to simply put pants with bibs or hang over a railing to dry. That way you prevent the shoulder straps from stretching unnecessarily. Make sure you don't let the clothes dry in the sun. That can cause your red bicycle shirt to slowly discolour to pink. The great thing about cycling clothing is that it often dries very quickly. Super handy if you want to wear your cycling clothing again the next day.

6. Washing again?
Check for stains after washing! After drying you hardly get it out of it anymore. So do you still see stains? Was again!
Rate bicycle jackets and wind jackets well. Look well to see if it is necessary to wash them. With every wash, clothing wears out, so it would be a shame to do this unnecessary.
