Three Personal Stories
Summer has finally arrived. The perfect time to get outside and enjoy being on the bike again. For us, cycling is all about enjoyment. That one amazing feeling you get when riding. The warm sun on your face, the fresh breeze through your hair. With our Summer Moves Us campaign, we celebrate this sunny season. Every cyclist experiences the summer months in their own way. Below, you can read the personal stories of three different cyclists and discover what truly inspires them.
Claire - The Storyteller
“Sometimes I just ride, with no real plan in mind. I am not trying to go fast, and I do not need to be anywhere. Because I enjoy riding on my own, I really take in what is around me. The long roads seem to lead me forward on their own. I always bring my camera to capture the beautiful details of the ride, the little things that catch my eye. Warm sunlight shining through the trees, for example. Or a large shadow slowly moving across the road. While other cyclists speed up, I tend to slow down for a moment. I often stop to quickly take a photo of the scenery around me. I carry all those small summer moments home with me in my mind. Quite often, it is the smallest things that turn into the most beautiful memories.”
Michaël and Lore - Inseparable on the Bike
“Summer is, without a doubt, our favourite season. All we really need is our road bike. Nothing more to enjoy it to the fullest. As a couple, we love going everywhere together by bike. We ride side by side, enjoying the road and the time together. A strong headwind or a nice tailwind does not bother us at all. And whenever we feel like stopping, we simply do. Sometimes we need to fix something on the bike along the way, and quite often we end up sharing a refreshing ice cream in the blazing sun. Our longer rides are almost never perfect from start to finish, but being out together always makes it more fun than riding alone.”
Thomas - The Early Climber
“Early mornings are without question my favourite time of day. The wide mountain roads are still wonderfully quiet, and the fresh morning air still feels cool. I really enjoy riding alone, just to clear my head and fully unwind. Along the way, I look for the most beautiful spots. On rides like these, I hardly speak at all. I simply keep riding at my own pace. My breathing becomes calm, and my legs gradually warm up for the climb ahead. The higher I go, the quieter nature becomes. Climbing can feel incredibly tough at times, but sometimes it feels surprisingly smooth. I am not chasing anything. I am simply looking for that incredible feeling you get on the bike. Finishing a hard climb with an amazing view definitely adds to it.”
